When you want to burn stomach fat you need to get in to a serious cardio routine. Contrary to what you might see your fellow gym goers doing, thousands of sit ups will not get rid of that stomach fat that you detest. You have to get rid of the excess fat on your body in order to burn stomach fat like you want to. Not everyone has time to do endless hours of cardio, and then also take the time to fit in resistance training on top of it. If you find yourself in this situation, don’t you worry, the best thing you can do is combine the two.
When combining your cardio workout with your resistance training workout your goal should be to keep your heart rate up to %60-%90 of your max heart rate the whole time. The easiest way to track this is to wear a heart rate monitor. You can also do a self test by finding your pulse and counting the number of beats you feel for ten seconds, and then multiplying that number by six. To find what your max heart rate should be take 220 and subtract your age. You can then multiply it by what percentage of your hear rate that you are looking to work at to find out what your goal heart rate range should be. By working out with your heart rate in the correct zone you’ll maximize your workout and burn stomach fat.
Once you know where you want your heart rate to be you can measure how you’re doing throughout your workouts. An easy format to follow for a high intensity resistance training workout with cardio bursts is the following;
Warm up 3-5 mins
3 sets alternating muscle groups: Exercise #1 & Exercise #2
cardio burst five minutes (really pushing yourself as hard as you can on these bursts)
3 sets alternating muscles groups: Exercise #3 & Exercise #4
cardio burst five minutes
3 sets alternating muscle groups: Exercise #5 & Exercise #6
cardio burst five minutes
3 sets alternating muscle groups: Exercise #7 & Exercise #8
cardio burst five minutes
cool down 3-5 minutes
This easy format will help to keep that heart rate up, and will increase your overall caloric burn, helping you to burn stomach fat as quickly and efficiently as possible.
